    VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE

    VITA

The City of McMinnville and the Chamber of Commerce are working with the Internal Revenue Service to provide free income tax return preparation through the VITA program.

VITA is currently seeking Volunteers to prepare tax returns for citizens in McMinnville and Warren County. Volunteers receive training from IRS certified instructors and upon completion, are IRS Certified Tax Preparers. No prior experience is required, just a desire to help people.

The training is free and is held in McMinnville. All training materials are provided along with computer training using modern tax preparation software. The training is conducted in a relaxed classroom setting with lots of individual help from the instructors. There are two training phases, classroom and on line. The training dates and the schedules are flexible to accommodate individual needs.

VITA is a challenging and rewarding program. It is a great way to help the community and gain valuable job skills in tax return preparation, computer and interviewing skills. Volunteers truly enjoy the work and have fun working with each other.
