    Rocket Park work day

Ten volunteer workers came to Rocket Park at 9:00AM on Saturday May 5, 2018 to make improvements on River Trail North. One team loaded river rocks on wheel barrows , carried them up the trail and spread a thin layer of rocks on the tread way. We will eventually get all the lower areas of the trail covered with a layer of rocks. Another team did a heroic job of cutting grass and weeds from the trail corridor from the Rocket Park trail head all the way beyond the Beersheba Street Bridge half way to Ramsey Park. Other people cut invasive privet brush, carried it and stacked it for future disposal. Pat Bigbee, Tina Smock and Tina’s grand children, Emberey and Onyx, helped workers sign the waiver of liability.

James Martin worked hard at all tasks. Justin Tanner cut weeds and tall grass from the corridor from the trail head to the upstream end of Rocket Park. Other Volunteers were Richard Grissom, Master Gardener Bill Smallman. Tommy Lancaster and faithful worker Ron Bare. Parks and Rec Director Scot McCord was unable to work but gave encouragement to all.

The day was sponsored by the Green way Council, the Friends of the Green way and the City of McMinnville. The City has included the River Trails into the park system including maintenance and law enforcement. Wally Bigbee was the work coordinator.
