Name: Free Bilingual Nursery Workshop- Control pests, safeguard ability to ship, survive invasive pestsDate: September 26, 2013Time: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM CDTEvent Description:· Want to know the most inexpensive way to control pests!! Prevent them to begin with!! Systems-based pest management is just that – preventing pests at each step in your production system.
· Want to safeguard your ability to ship plants nationally and internationally? Systems-based pest management is your key to open trade!
· Want to increase your readiness to survive a potentially devastating invasive insect or disease? Systems-based pest management was first adapted to nursery production to help growers dealing with P. ramorum! Just ask Jerry Lee with Monrovia (formerly Wights Nurseries)!
Jerry Lee, Monrovia/Wight Nursery, Cairo, GA, and Jennifer Parke, Oregon State University, will present the advantages and the principles of systems-based pest management. Both have experienced P. ramorum, sudden oak death, and have valuable first-hand experience about how preventing problems like it can be achieved cost effectively! Dr. Parke and Jerry Lee will be joined by several other nationally recognized speakers with expertise in insect and disease management, plant regulatory issues and nursery production: Alan Windham, Frank Hale, Gray Haun and Amy Fulcher! The day culminates with hands-on training at Hale and Hines Nursery where you can learn to identify critical control points and how better manage them to prevent the spread of insects, mites, weeds, and pathogens!
The workshop will be on September 26, 2013 at the TSU Otis Floyd Nursery Research Center in McMinnville, TN. Come to this FREE program and bring your employees!! Please pre-register by September 18, 2013 to guarantee your spot and your lunch-there is limited seating!!
