    Event Description:
    Join Tennessee State Parks and TDEC Division of Natural Areas, on the beautiful Collins River for a final float of 2018. The trip will cover a 6-mile stretch of the Collins River and should take roughly 4 hours to complete, depending on the flow of the river paddlers’ abilities. Ranger Nat Garrison of Rock Island State Park and State Natural Areas Program Administrator Jason Miller will lead the float, and will cover topics including ecology of the river, native species, historical uses and sustainable recreation today. Costumes are encouraged for this event, and visitors should dress for getting wet in October weather. Water and a snack are also recommended. 
    Guests must pre-register for the event. Participants should meet at 2977 Locke Bend Rd, McMinnville, TN 37110. Kayakers will then be shuttled upstream to start, and will end the float back at their vehicles.
    Kayaks, paddles and PFDs will be provided. PFDs must be worn at all times.
    This event is limited to 14 guests (8 Single Kayaks/ 3 Double Kayaks). Cost is 15 dollars per person. Sign up at the Park Office, online, or over the phone at 931-686-2471.
