    FOR RELEASE February 4, 2019

Schools Receive Recognition from Tennessee Behavior Supports Project

The Tennessee Behavior Supports Project (TBSP) at Vanderbilt University (funded by the Tennessee Dept. of Education) is proud to announce that six schools in Warren County have been selected as 2018-19 honor schools. These schools were honored in January at the State Department of Education Partners in Education Conference in Nashville.

Eastside Elementary School and Hickory Creek Elementary School have been selected for 2018-19 “RTI2B Model of Demonstration School” Award. Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary, Dibrell Elementary, and West Elementary have been selected as 2018-19 “School of Recognition” Award.

These schools have been a participant in training and technical assistance provided by TBSP and have undergone the process of implementing a positive and proactive behavioral systems framework for all students. The RTI2B Framework consists of:

    * Identifying common behavioral expectations across campus

    * Teaching/re-teaching/reinforcing and regularly acknowledging students, faculty, and families for exhibiting these expectations.

These schools have applied this framework to improve the climate, culture, and proactive disciplinary practices which directly impacts student engagement and school connectedness.

The award winning schools demonstrated use of school-wide behavioral data to inform teaching practices and level of support provided to students based on need. Twice a year, these schools reflect on overall fidelity to guide their implementation of the RTI2B framework.

As Bronze Award recipients, Eastside Elementary and Hickory Creek Elementary will serve as mentors to other Middle Tennessee schools. The School of Recognition Award recipients, Bobby Ray Memorial, Dibrell Elementary, and West Elementary are on their way to serving as mentors to other schools as their programming continues to grow.

Warren County Schools is pleased to highlight these schools that were honored by the TBSP. The hard work and dedication demonstrated by these schools continues to support the highest level of learning for our students.
