    SCOPE:

    The President is a dynamic person who is energetic and passionate about making McMinnville­ Warren County thrive and innovatively lead in Tennessee. The President is someone who desires to grow professionally and challenge themselves in their position. As the chief executive officer of the McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, responsibilities include managing and directing all operations, programs, activities and affairs of the Chamber. The President serves on the Executive Committee of the Chamber's Board of Directors and all Division Committees as a non-voting member.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Promote growth, retention, and expansion of existing member businesses.
    • Execute policies and goals set forth by the Board of Directors and recommend policies to the Board for fulfillment of the mission of the organization.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans and policies to assure adequate funding of the Chamber's programs and operations, seek grand funds, and raise funds for various Chamber programs and community projects.
    • Working with other community leaders, help lead in designing, developing, and implementing public/private partnerships to facilitate community projects.
    • Oversee community relations program, which assures commitment to the Chamber's goals and objectives.
    • Serve as the chief spokesperson on policy matters for the Chamber.
    • Accountable for administrative and financial policies and controls, assuring sound fiscal and operational management of Chamber affairs.
    • Develop and distribute agendas for all executive committee, board, and nominating committee meetings, and divisional programs of work; with advice and counsel of the Board Chairman.
    • Recruit, train, supervise and develop Chamber staff employees.
    • Develop and implement strategies for recruiting new memberships from the community.
    • Recruit, train, supervise, and retain volunteers for Chamber programs and services.
    • Plan and execute all Chamber-sponsored events including fundraisers, community programs, and program of work events.

    FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The President is responsible for the McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce operating budget and all aspects of the financial management of the Chamber.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:

    • Gain extensive knowledge of the McMinnville-Warren County community and Middle Tennessee/Upper Cumberland region.
    • Exhibit a personal philosophy consistent with the Chamber's pro-business and economic growth agenda.
    • Experience in designing, creating, and leading public/private partnerships; particularly in economic and community development.
    • Develop positive relationships with community and business leaders, as well as key elected officials.
    • Passion and Optimism - Inspires respect and trust.
    • Visionary leadership-Provides vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates, mobilizing staff to fulfill vision.
    • Leading and executing major fund-raising activities/programs and grant proposals.
    • Demonstrate strong problem-solving, motivational, communications, organizational, planning, negotiation, and leadership skills.
    • Experience in large event planning and management.
    • Gain appropriate professional chamber certifications and training.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Demonstrated professional use of social media.
    • Provide own transportation.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and developing employees.
    • Planning, assigning and directing work; including cross-training of staff.
    • Performance management of all staff, including goal-setting, performance reviews, development planning, rewards, and recognition.
    • Foster a positive work environment and team atmosphere.
    • Ensures accurate payroll processing for all employees.

    EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree or master's degree in public or business administration or related field or two years of work experience in public administration, chamber of commerce, economic development, or business management.
    • Experience and knowledge of finance, budgeting, marketing, public relations, grant writing, and analytical and statistical skills are required.

    Employees of the McMinnville-Warren County Chamber of Commerce must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

    OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

    The President shall perform any additional duties as specified by the Board of Directors.

    SALARY & BENEFITS:

    $47,000 - $60,000 depending on qualifications and experience, retirement contribution, paid holidays and vacation.
